Dataw Island

Nature Preserve & Dog Run

Oak Island:

Created by nature and reserved for you!

There is a special place accessible only from Dataw Island: our own Oak Island, a 33-acre preserve that beckons all lovers of nature.

Purchased in 2020 by generous Dataw Island members, the late Alan and Joanne Moses, and donated to the community, the private park-like oasis officially became a part of Dataw Island, to be enjoyed in perpetuity by Dataw Island members now and for generations to follow.

The maritime forest nature preserve boasts an off-leash Dog Exercise Enclosurenature trails, and a long dock, stretching into the marsh and accessible to all members — take in a sunset or just enjoy a leisurely nature walk, taking in the native flora and fauna.
