Dataw Hosts 2026 CPGA Players Championship

CPGA Players Championship

Dataw proudly hosted the CPGA Players Championship this week on the Cotton Dike Course, showcasing both the beauty and challenge of our Tom Fazio design. The two-day event brought top PGA professionals to the island, where they were met with classic Lowcountry conditions, from calm, scenic morning views to shifting winds that tested every aspect of their game. Morgan Deneen, PGA of Old Sawmill Golf Club, set the tone early with an impressive 6-under-par 66 in the opening round to take the lead.

Conditions toughened in the final round on Tuesday, as increasing winds made scoring far more difficult and turned the championship into a true test of patience and precision. Deneen rose to the occasion, ultimately claiming victory in a playoff against Allen Caldwell, PGA of Surf Golf and Beach Club, and Tyler Lucas, PGA of Myers Park Country Club. Finishing at 8-under-par for the tournament, Deneen’s steady play down the stretch secured him the title in dramatic fashion on the 18th hole. With this victory, Deneen has earned himself an exemption into the Biltmore Championship at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
