Celebrating Carol Garrison’s Retirement & Her Leadership as ARB Director

Celebrating Carol Garrison & Her Retirement Afer Nearly 20 Years at Dataw

After spending nearly 20 years at Dataw, Carol Garrison retires from her role as Architectural Review Board (ARB) Director, leaving a lasting impact on our community. Over the years, Carol held several important positions, including Executive Administrative Assistant, ARB Director, Living with the Covenants Coordinator, and Assistant Secretary for the DIC and DIOA Boards. She has been part of the team through many changes and a great deal of growth, always bringing consistency, care, and a positive presence to her work.

During her time as ARB Director, Carol was involved in dozens of new home construction projects and hundreds of remodeling and landscaping reviews. She personally prepared nearly 2,000 pages of Board minutes (long before AI!) and created and maintained countless ARB and LWC files and records. Carol attended hundreds of meetings, home site reviews, and working sessions, and her organization and attention to detail made her a trusted resource for staff, board members, and homeowners alike.

Carol will be greatly missed, and we are truly thankful for the many years she spent supporting the Dataw community. We’re also grateful for the thoughtful transition she helped ensure, working closely with John Wartman as he steps into the ARB Director role.

As she begins retirement, Carol is looking forward to more camping and travel with her husband, spending time with her dog, and enjoying golf cart rides around the neighborhood and at their favorite campgrounds. Her last day is Wednesday, December 31st. If you’d like to send Carol a note or share well wishes, she can be reached at [email protected]

Please join us in wishing Carol all the best and a very happy retirement!
