Dataw Island  is pleased to announce Pickleball, the latest trend in on-court sports. With a majestic view overlooking Jenkins Creek, Dataw Island has four newly constructed Pickleball Courts behind tennis courts 3 & 4 and adjacent to the fairway of Cotton Dike hole #9, Dataw Island's newest sports amenity!

The Dataw Racquet and Paddle Center provides a respite for the weary competitor and a home for after-game social events. The Center also has showers, a kitchen and a small Pro Shop offering paddle essentials and balls. Most importantly, with ample room to move around, the Center is party central for socials. And there are many! We also have a covered outdoor Pickleball Gazebo between courts 2 and 3 that enhances the entire facility, featuring an additional 600 square feet of open-air cabana ambiance for any gathering.

All skill levels are welcome on the Dataw Island Pickleball courts, and a USAPA-certified instructor is on-site to help you learn the game. Additional instruction is available through the social club-within-the-club, the Dataw Island Pickleball Club (DIPC). Members of DIPC will gladly help you learn the fundamentals of the game if you have never played before. It is easy to learn and fun to play. Additionally, DIPC social events are not to be missed! 

About Pickleball

So what's all the buzz about? Pickleball is similar to tennis but is played with specialized rackets and balls that allow for a slower pace of play on a shorter court. Many former tennis players and people new to the game appreciate having "less clay to cover" and have found that the game is easier and faster to become proficient at than traditional tennis, providing more enjoyment -- sooner!
