Architectural Review Board

The Dataw Island Architectural Review Board is established by the Covenants to administer the Design Guidelines, which are the architectural standards and use restrictions for Dataw Island. The ARB reviews and approves new construction, external remodeling and landscape plans for approval. The ARB meets monthly but members may be required to attend special meetings to complete ARB business in a timely manner. Each member is assigned a geographic area of the island and may be required to visit project sites within that area between meetings.

DIOA Common Grounds

Working with the Director of Landscape Maintenance, this committee supports the maintenance and enhancement of the infrastructure and the ecological ambiance of the common property. Particular attention is paid to roads, paths, bridges, common docks, common ponds, gazebo and gazebo rest rooms, horticulture, drainage, buildings/structures, lighting, community garden and RV storage area. This committee meets monthly.

DIOA Government and Community Relations

This committee works with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager to ensure we maintain contact with state and local governmental agencies, community entities and their officials and to gather information which could have an impact on the quality of life at Dataw. This committee meets monthly.

Living with the Covenants

This committee works with the Living with the Covenants Administrator to resolve situations involving a violation of the Covenants or DIOA Rules and Regulations. These violations are generally brought to the committee by property owners, staff members or other committees. Each committee member is assigned a geographic area on the island. A committee member may be contacted to inspect reported situations, make contact with a property owners to assist them in resolving the issues, and recommend a situation be escalated to the Board or management level when appropriate. This committee meets monthly

DIOA and DIC Communications and Technology Committee

This committee works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to help ensure the best practices are being applied to all communication vehicles and all technical operations. Island-wide communications via the DatawNet, message boxes, special publications and special event communications are regularly reviewed by this committee. The committee stays up-to-date on technology currently being used in all areas of the operations and on the island in general and may recommend looking into upgrades or changes when appropriate. This committee meets monthly.

DIOA and DIC Long Range Planning Committee

Working with the Boards and the General Manger, this committee focuses on strategic planning and review of items of a long term or critical nature. This committee is involved in facility planning, reserve planning, facility replacement and maintenance including review of current plans and recommendations for improvement or change. The committee monitors metrics reflecting the operations with an eye toward identifying areas needing attention. This committee meets monthly.

DIOA and DIC Joint Marketing Committee

This committee works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure that our current marketing strategies and tactics are meeting our needs in the areas of real estate sales, Country Club memberships and participation in club amenity packages. The Committee may review current marketing initiatives and may recommend improvements or changes to be considered by the Director of Marketing and the Boards. This committee meets monthly.

DIOA and DIC Joint Finance Committee

This committee works with the Assistant General Manager/Controller to support oversight of all financial activities of the DIOA and DIC. The Finance Committee will participate in the development of budget guidelines and goals and make recommendations to the boards for the basis for DIOA fees, DIC membership dues and sports amenity fees. In reviewing the financials at the monthly meeting the committee will monitor variances of actual operating and capital results from approved budgets, review adequacy of financial records, track the financial integrity of the membership plans, and review financial reports. The committee may also assist in establishing investment guidelines and monitoring of investments, borrowing and disbursement of funds, evaluate insurance requirements and carriers, participate in audits and provide guidance in the funding of capital expansion projects. This committee meets monthly, but committee members typically serve as a liaison to one other committee.

Golf and Green Committee

This committee works with the Director of Golf and the Director of Golf Maintenance in addressing matters affecting the golf courses and the golf program. Committee activities include those that enhance the member experience, promote and grow our golf program and regulate play in accordance to the USGA Guidelines. This Committee helps review the proposed golf calendar each year and recommends approval of same at the Board level. This committee meets monthly.

House and Social

This committee works with the Clubhouse Director to ensure we are providing our members with quality food, competent service, a pleasant and attractive clubhouse and a variety of social events. The committee may also advise on promotion of special events for both member groups and outside groups. The committee also administers and manages the Comment Card program. There may sometimes be sub-committee assignments that are project specific. This committee meets monthly.

Membership

This committee works with the Membership Director and focuses on the retention of existing members, increasing the number of new members, welcoming new members and community outreach. The committee assists with the Ambassador Program. The committee may deal with policy issues, member requests and by-law interpretations and then recommend solutions to the DIC Board for approval and implementation. This committee will work closely with the Joint Marketing Committee when proposing initiatives for amenity use and/or Country Club Membership campaigns. This committee meets monthly.

Sports and Recreation

This committee works with the Director of Lawn Sports and the management of Carolina Sportscare (Community Center) to ensure the best possible recreational activities and facilities are provided to our members and to encourage the use of our sports amenities by new and existing members. The committee may recommend facility changes or additions, rules and regulations, and maintenance programs relative to the operation of the sports facilities to the DIC Board for consideration and approval. This committee meets monthly.

Katie Kline

Employed at CSC since January 2013. Balanced Body (Pilates); YogaFit; AFAA Personal Trainer; ACE Group Fitness certifications.

Enjoys spending time with family and friends

Specialty: Katie’s strengths are listening and guiding people to achieve their fitness goals. She works with people who are looking to reduce stress, improve their fitness, and become more mind/body aware. She thinks improving flexibility is the key to maintaining an active and well balance life.

Training Philosophy: Continually strive to balance your workouts with a healthy diet to achieve success.

Kim Treadway

Employed at CSC since 1992. AFAA (Aerobics), White Cloud (Pilates). 20 years experience teaching group fitness classes including 9+ years specializing in Pilates Reformer and Mat.

Specialty: Kim specializes in working with clients with lower back and hip issues. She strives to challenge her clients athletically while maintaining a safe approach to bring control, strength and balance into their lives.

Fitness Tip: Keep your workout program equally blended with cardio, strength training and stretching. Don't sabotage your efforts with a poor diet.

Training Philosophy: Be in tune with your body, challenge yourself, integrate new ideas, and strive to reach realistic goals.

Lynda Wilisch

Employed at CSC since 2002. Certifications: PhysicalMind Institute (Pilates), White Cloud Studios (Pilates), and Balanced Body University (Pilates), YMCA Fitness Specialist Certified (Body Comp & Assessment), ACE (Group Fitness), YMCA Healthy Back Certified (fitness).

Enjoys The Arts, movies, reading.

Specialty: Lynda’s strength is her knowledge & expertise from over 15 years of training Pilates clients, always offering modifications to her clients as they learn. She works well with beginner to advanced clients, from alleviating low back pain to strengthening a dancer’s body. She teaches multi-levels in all forms of Pilates training with an emphasis on learning to move correctly & body alignment.

Fitness Tip: Learn the importance of contraction, core strength and how to move your muscles properly without all that tension!

Training Philosophy: Teaches all body types or levels & how to work with limitations using the Pilates method. Learn to strengthen the muscles surrounding your joints as well as the larger muscles for better posture & fitness.

Suzi Wood

Employed at CSC since 2017. Certified Personal trainer - National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Certified Pastry Chef - Culinary Institute of America and Certified Chef - Midwest Culinary Institute. Enjoys cooking, hiking, rock climbing and gardening.

Specialty: Suzi specializes in high cardiovascular and weight training combinations in order to help clients reach their peak metabolism while burning fat and toning up. She focuses on proper form and injury prevention while taking clients through circuit style full body workouts that are functional, fun, and effective.

Fitness Tip: Consistency is key - short term goals lead to long term results.

Training Philosophy: You only live once - life comes at you fast so push hard daily and be sure to enjoy it.
