There is a special place just accessible only by Dataw Island: our own Oak Island, a 33-acre preserve that beckons all lovers of nature.

Purchased anonymously by generous Dataw Island members and donated to the community, in 2020 the private park-like oasis officially became a part of Dataw Island, to be enjoyed in perpetuity by Dataw Island members now and for generations to follow.

The maritime forest nature preserve boasts an off-leash Dog Exercise Enclosure, nature trails, and a long dock, stretching into the marsh and accessible to all members -- take in a sunset or just enjoy a leisurely walk, taking in the native flora and fauna.
