USTA Tennis Tournament 

Congratulations and thanks to all the players who came out to enjoy the annual USTA Dataw Splash! Tennis Tournament!

 

A field of nearly 100 players competed throughout the weekend, with some excellent tennis played. Spectators enjoyed several highlight matches, including the standout competition between two father/son teams (pictured above): Diego Ladino (who plays on the Beaufort High School team) and his Dad,  Ycsen Torres, prevailed over the other father/son team, Joshua and Daniel Lieberman, who were visiting us from Hilton Head. These two teams competed in the Men’s 5.0 Doubles division on the main stadium court, with non-stop action spanning well over two hours. A tough but exciting battle!

 

A number of Dataw Island tennis players participated and all made us proud playing excellent tennis; several even earned bragging rights as well on home turf. With fellow members cheering them to victory, a few notable Dataw wins included:

 

 

Men’s 3.0 doubles – Scott Sonoc / Mark Stein – winners

Men’s 3.5 doubles Back Draw – Dale Kirby / Scott Hammond – winners

Men’s 3.5 singles Back Draw – Scott Hammond – winner

Men’s 4.0 singles Back Draw – Stu Domeshek – winner
