Day one of the South Carolina Open is drawing to a close with some intense and very close competition leading into tomorrow. Cory Schnieder, last year's champion, is leading with a -2 but seven other players including Josh Fickes, Zach Calhoun, Mark Tomedolskey, Troy Spencer, Scooter Buhrman, Matt Bova and Steve Isley are hot on his heels with -1.

Dataw Island's Cotton Dike course has been presenting quite the challenge for the competitors and has been living up to its newly earned title as one of the top 50 Golf Courses in the state of South Carolina (rated by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel).
