Annual Toy Drive Renamed The Cummings Toy Drive
In honor of the late Mr. Jack Cummings (Santa) and Mrs. Vickie Cummings, the Annual Toy Drive is being renamed the Cummings Toy Drive. Many years ago, these two started the tradition on Dataw Island to give toys to children of local military personnel. For the first time in it's 18 years, it is without both of the founding members. The Cummings. It is only fitting that this event be named after them. Year after year, members line up in cars and golf carts to deliver unwrapped toys for the children of local military personnel. December 12 will mark 18 years of this wonderful Dataw tradition!
Congratulations, Jeri Martin!
Congratulations, Jeri Martin! Please give a well-deserved congratulations to Jeri Martin, who has been promoted from Member Concierge to Banquet Manager! Jeri started her journey at Dataw in April of this year and quickly made a name for herself amongst the members as well as the staff with her optimistic attitude and contagious laugh. During her time as Member Concierge, Jeri found herself assisting with events over the weekends and nights when she wasn’t manning the front desk. Banquets and events are nothing new to Jeri as she has formally worked as a Banquet Manager at Burningtree Country Club in Alabama as well as serving as a Banquet Captain at both The Ledges Country Club and Marriott in Alabama. Jeri is thrilled to take the Banquet Manager position to further advance her career with Dataw. Her favorite thing about banquets and events are making the member/ clients vision come to life through her detailed work. In the future, Jeri hopes to make Dataw Island an exclusive event space attracting people from all over for weddings and events while continuing to exceed expectations for member events. Jeri is originally from Huntsville, Alabama. Growing up, her father served in the army thus causing her family to move around quite a bit. While this gave her an opportunity to travel and see the world, Jeri is now ready to settle down and plant her roots in Beaufort. She has 3 daughters in Alabama that blessed her with 5 beautiful grandchildren. Jeri loves for her grandbabies to come visit her in the Lowcountry and stated, “The water just talks to my soul giving me a bit of peace and serenity.” “She’s going to be great. She knows the system inside and out and the members absolutely adore her,” exclaimed Ted Bartlett, General Manager. We are so lucky to have such a hardworking and enthusiastic employee as a part of our Dataw family and we can’t wait to see her shine in her new role! Congratulations, Jeri, on your new position!
