Having grown up in Beaufort on the sea islands, Richard is a family man who enjoys the outdoors, where he spends most of his free time building, shooting landscape photography, boating, fishing, and camping. Richard’s father planted roots here in Beaufort after retiring from a distinguished career in the military and as a civilian working for the state of South Carolina as a Department of Health and Environmental Control water conservation specialist. His mother, an artist and teacher, moved from Amsterdam to the United States after marrying Richard’s father soon after he met her along the road in his Karmann Ghia during a trip to Myorca while on military leave.
Richard and his wife, Heidi, are the proud parents of two sons, Nicholas and Reeve, and proud grandparents to a new grandson, Ma’ohne. Richard is a true adventurer at heart and loves the opportunity to show others the beauty and unique charm of the town he calls home.
Richard Kook has a BA in marketing from the school of business at the University of South Carolina in Aiken. His passion is serving others and sharing his love for the Creator through nature.
