South Carolina Open
The Carolinas PGA Section kicked off the South Carolina Open this morning on Dataw Island's Cotton Dike course, designed by legendary Tom Fazio.

Day One of the South Carolina Open

Mother Nature got to play today, along with nearly 150 South Carolina golfers as they teed off for Round One of the South Carolina Open on Dataw Island's Cotton Dike course, designed by the legendary Tom Fazio. The weather ranged from overcast to hot and muggy before settling into thunder and rain. But alas, the players had nothing but great things to say about the course conditions, and expressed their gratitude to Dataw Island for hosting the 66th Carolinas PGA Section tournament, presented by Yamaha.  (This week's tournament is a 54-stroke play with a 36-hole cut.)

After a late-afternoon rain delay, the golfers are back at it! Around 6:15 pm they headed back out in attempts to complete their rounds before dark or another band of lightning.

The threesome with the most holes to complete has nine holes to go; any holes that are not completed this evening will be played during an early shotgun start tomorrow morning, utilizing today's hole placements. The Golf Maintenance crew will follow close behind to reset the course according the tomorrow's pin sheet, readying the course for the second round.

Due to the extensive delays, final scores are not yet available. L
ive scoring can be viewed by clicking here on the official tournament webpage
