New Year New You! Building a Better Beaufort and a Better YOU
Beaufort, SC --- If you’re already worried about working off your turkey (and gravy, dressing, pie, potatoes…) and you’ve only just begun your cookie-baking, mark your calendar to participate in the Resolution Run and the “New Year New You Health Fair” on Dataw Island January 10th and 11th.
Now in its ninth year, the LowCountry Habitat for Humanity Resolution Run is open to walkers, runners, and dog-walkers, who may opt for a 5k or 10 k course, both of which weave their way through the beautiful surrounds of Dataw Island.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, January 10th with the New Year New You Health Fair – and with the theme of “Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Please” the event promises to be both educational and fun. (Hey, there are great health benefits to wine and chocolate!) The Fair is being presented at the Dataw Island Community Center and will feature various vendors from throughout the Beaufort Community. The Health Fair is open to all Dataw Island members, as well as Resolution Run participants, and will run from 4-6:30 pm.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Just recently, the “Dataw 2” house was completed and dedicated to a deserving family, thanks to the support of Dataw Island members’ generosity and voluntarism.
